Twenty years spent trying to start one kind of business after the other. Twenty years spent

failing.

Not for lack of intelligence, smarts, or strategy. Not for lack of perseverance. (I mean,

twenty years, right?)

I spent so much money on the marketing, the trainings, the business-building gurus. So

many gurus! Most of them men, some of them women, and all of them remarkable only in

being unhelpful for me.

What I wanted to know was this: What is the problem here?

What we women do in this culture that has so programmed us to believe the worst of us

and discount the best of who we are is that we blame ourselves. So the problem seemed to

be – well – me! Or so I told myself. I tried, I persevered, I worked the 14 hour days and I took

so many free workshops you would have thought I was in a rush.

Truth is, I was in a rush – to make money. More than I was in a rush to build a solid

business, I was rushing to pick and operate something that would bring in money fast. I

was making one of the classic mistakes that womanpreneurs in particular frequently make:

putting the money first...which simply made me panic, and push too hard, and get a lot of

work done but never get anywhere as a result of it!

But why was this thing so much more difficult for womanpreneurs than for the men? What

was going on here?

Over the span of 3 years, the answers started to come. I realized that there are at least 3

aspects to starting a business that are never acknowledged: Identity, Emotional Energy,

and the Feminine.
